Wallaby

When I was on holiday, I have learnt a lot about an animal that I have never meet: the wallaby.

The wallaby is a marsupial mammal of the macropodidae family.

The wallaby is a solitary animal.

They are together only to eat and to reproduce.

It is an herbivorous animal. He eats mainly grass, hay, cereals, roots, barks ...

He eats in the morning and late afternoon.

The rest of his time, mostly during the hottest hours of the day, he goes to the shelter to take a nap.

The wallaby drinks only in case of high heat .

He looks like kangaroo, but smaller than them .

He weighs between 33 and 55 livre when he is adult and measures between 28 and 35 inch.

Their long tail measures between 28 and 30 inch.

we recognize him with his grey thick coat with red refletion on his shoulders, and with the black of his nose and the tips of his paws.

He can run at a speed of 15km /h.

If he feels danger, he can run between 50 and 60km/h.

The wallaby lives mainly in the scrubby undergrowth, meadows and eucalyptus forests of Australia.

Especially on the east and south coasts of Australia and Tasmania.

It is not a threatened species in Australia so her hunting is allowed.

I have never seen one in my life ! And one day when I got off the train to Queensland I saw a mother and her two little ones. It was very cute.

I wanted to go to Australia since I was 11 years old.

When I traveled in Australia, I visited the largest island of kangaroos I have ever seen!

Since I came back from Australia, I can't help but dream about wallabies !!!

Monte Cristo Homestead

Our trip has been really extraordinary, we have seen the most beautiful places in the world, discovered a very different culture of ours but this trip to Australia will remain one of the most beautiful moments of our lives. One of the strangest moments in this trip was our evening at Monte Cristo Homestead.

It is "the most haunted house in Australia."We haven't never believed in ghosts, but this visit put us in doubt!

We have eaten at this house with the current owners: Mr and Mrs Ryans. They have told us the story of this old house and her stranges phenomenons : scary noises, white mists in the photos, feelings of deep sadness, the impression of being touched and observed and a fall of the temperature in some rooms ...

It would be Christopher and Elizabeth Crawley, The would haunt the house since their deaths in 1910 and 1933, as well as many of their servants and some of their 7 childrens.

Effectively a pregnant chambermaid would have been pushed from the balcony, a stable boy would have perished in a criminal fire while sleeping in the stables with Mr Crawley's race horses, also one of their daughters,Ethel, that their maid was wearing, was misteriously pushed down the stairs.

This was the weirdest and most scary evening of our lives, but we don't regret it because we were looking for the little thrill and we found it !

The Blue Mountains

Since I have left Australia, I do dreams about the blue mountains (the biggest mountain range in New South Wales)
They have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000.

you can take a breath of fresh air and there are very beautiful landscapes ...

There are steep cliffs, eucalyptus forests and waterfalls, as well as several villages .

For gone to The blue mountains, you can take car or train.

We have seen very well the famous "Three Sisters" to Echo point (a point of view),we have explored the forest and joined the funicular.

It was through hikes that we were able to "visit" the Blue Mountains National Park, I met the bravest people who came back for the 17th time because they want to do all hikes possible. There are really a lot! (an area of 1 436 km2)

I have meet the most beautiful birds like kookaburras or lyres and when I have camped, I have seen wombats, possums or frogmouths …

Check the weather: (if it's raining you can't see the famous blue halo above the mountains and if you go there in times of drought you risk falling on fire)

Take hats, sunscreen, walking shoes, maps, cameras, rainwears ...But mainly take water and food in case you get lost in the forest.

From Yidaki to Didgeridoo,

Two months ago, I have gone to Uluru in Australia. It is the most beautiful place I've ever seen.

The aboriginals used to live in Australia before the Europeans arrived. The Yidaki has created between 20 and 60,000 years ago, So it's the oldest instrument of music.

The Yidaki and the Didgeridoo have been wind instruments. The Yidaki used to played for the aboriginal ceremonies, and the didgeridoo has been also an instrument but not religious.

Yidaki has made easily, it has been an empty tree trunk, heated and painted. There are many different yidaki because each people manufactures it differently.

Today, the didgeridoo is known all over the world !

Didgeridoo hasn't been a word of an aboriginal language, but a term coined by European settlers.

During my trip,I have met a younger aboriginal and he has said: "I learn the Yidaki for my aboriginal studies degree."
